Matthew Hartz is the proprietor of Hartz Music Shop, Inc.. The business was started in 1991 in Huntsville, Texas where he attended college at Sam Houston State University. The Idaho native returned to the Boise area in 1994 and reestablished the business here. Since that time the business has been in several Boise and Meridian locations and is now located in 2 buildings at 1990 North Meridian Road in Meridian. Incorporating in 1999, the business is one of the largest (600 students weekly) private music instruction facilities in the state with 25 teachers specializing in violin/fiddle, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, piano, voice, percussion, mandolin & mandolin family instruments, banjo, electric bass & various exotic string instruments. Hartz Music Shop has also evolved into a fine music retailer specializing in stringed instruments and accessories. Our large violin inventory includes an extensive selection of new & vintage instruments and our acoustic guitar section has been boosted by the recent acquisition of a Gibson Guitar dealership.
